SUP board rental in Kaunas works differently from Vilnius: we have no permanent point in the city, so we rent boards by the day, for the weekend or for a week, not by the hour. You pick up the equipment in Vilnius, Žygio g. 90; for groups and events we can bring it to Kaunas. The delivery price depends on distance and quantity and is agreed in advance.
An inflatable board is packed into a backpack, so it fits in a car boot, and you can inflate it by the Kaunas Reservoir, the Lampėdžiai Quarry or the bank of the Nemunas. The set includes a board, pump, aluminium paddle, backpack, safety leash and fin. A life jacket is an extra 5 €.
The Aztron beginner board (320 × 81 cm, recommended load up to 120 kg) is suitable for the first time – 25 € per day. For groups we have a two-person, a three-person and an eight-person Starboard Starship, and for advanced paddlers – the Starboard 10’8” (39 € per day). We have been renting out boards since 2015; if you are unsure which to choose, call – we will advise you.

Where to paddle a SUP board in Kaunas
Kaunas Reservoir
The reservoir was formed in 1959–1960 by damming the Nemunas; it is a body of water about 80 km long. The most convenient shores for relaxing and swimming are in the lower part of the reservoir, in Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park. The water is large and open, so waves rise quickly when the wind blows – choose a calm day and paddle along the shore. In summer the water level can vary by up to 1.5 m. The park has reserves and sanctuaries (e.g. Dabinta Island): paddling is prohibited in nature reserves and ornithological sanctuaries, so check their boundaries before setting off.
Lampėdžiai Quarry (Lampėdis)
A former gravel quarry in the Nemunas valley, about 3.2 km long, with a beach and a campsite. It is much smaller than the reservoir and has no current, so it suits a first try. The depth changes abruptly and reaches 11 m in places, so a life jacket will not hurt here.
The Nemunas and the Neris in the city
The flow of the Nemunas in Kaunas is regulated by the Kaunas Hydroelectric Power Plant, so the strength of the current varies. From Kaunas the Nemunas is navigable, and the stretch up to Kulautuva is marked with navigation signs – paddle closer to the bank and watch for boats. Before the confluence by Kaunas Castle the Neris flows more slowly, but there are shallows in the riverbed. On the river, paddle downstream and agree in advance how you will get back to your car.
