Frequently asked questions

How much does SUP board rental in Trakai cost?
To paddle in Trakai, you rent a board by the day, for the weekend or for a week: the Aztron beginner board costs 25 € per day, 35 € for the weekend and 60 € for a week. Touring and Vision – 45 € per day. You pick up the equipment in Vilnius; for groups and events we can deliver it to Trakai – the delivery price depends on distance and quantity.
Where can I paddle a SUP board in Trakai?
The most popular route is on Lake Galvė around Trakai Island Castle. Galvė covers 361 ha, has 21 islands, and its deepest point reaches almost 47 m. Rowing competitions and regattas are held on the lake, so keep an eye on others on the water and stay away from their courses.
Can I paddle around several Trakai lakes on one route?
Yes. In the south Galvė connects through channels with lakes Luka and Totoriškės, and in the east with Lake Skaistis, and together they form one continuous system. The channel to Lake Totoriškės, crossed by the Karaim Bridge, is only about 17 m wide, so paddle carefully there.
Is Lake Akmena worth paddling?
Akmena is considered the cleanest lake in Trakai Historical National Park. It lies about 3 km north-west of Trakai and is 3.2 km long. There is a beach on the eastern shore, where it is convenient to inflate your board, and the bottom has many stones, so paddle carefully in the shallows.
Where do I pick up a board if I am paddling in Trakai?
You pick up the equipment in Vilnius, Žygio g. 90 (Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 10–15). Trakai is about 30 km from the centre of Vilnius, so a board picked up on Friday evening can be inflated by Galvė on Saturday morning. For groups and events we can also bring the boards to Trakai by arrangement.
Can I take a hard board to Trakai?
Yes. The hard Starboard Sprint and Expedition cost 70 € per day and 100 € for the weekend. They cannot be packed away, so they have to be carried on the car roof – you can rent roof bars for 5 €. A paddle and bag are not included with these boards, so bring your own paddle.
Can I paddle a SUP board in Trakai Historical National Park?
Yes. Galvė and the other Trakai lakes are in Trakai Historical National Park, established in 1991. The park has 32 lakes, which take up 18% of its area. When paddling in a protected area, do not litter, do not disturb birds in the reeds and follow the instructions of the park directorate.
