What is the water of Lake Alaušas like?
Alaušas is deep – up to 42 m – and in summer the water clarity reaches 4–6 m. The lake is fed by a small catchment area, so its water level varies by only about 30–40 cm over the year. In the shallows the bottom is sandy, and the wind mixes the wide lake well.
Is it worth paddling on Lake Dauniškis in the centre of Utena?
Dauniškis is small – only 0.68 km long, its shores are low and marshy, the banks are overgrown, and in summer there is a fountain on the lake. It is more a recreation-park lake than a place for a SUP board. It is more convenient to paddle on Alaušas, at Sudeikiai, where there is a recreation area and a campsite.
What is there to do in Sudeikiai after paddling?
In Sudeikiai stands the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1825, and in the town you will find three archaeological monuments – cup-marked stones. Around Alaušas there are about 15 rural tourism homesteads, so you can stay by the lake for the whole weekend.
